“It’s the economy, stupid.”
That phrase, or a version of it, was popularized during the Clinton v. Bush race in 1992.
Well, it seems as if the economy is looming large once again. It is predicted to be a major political driver in upcoming elections.
Who has the big advantage on that front?
It depends on who you ask.
This week on Full Measure, I’ll get provocative assessments from two economists who have opposing views on *almost* all economic issues.
They’ll tell what they think is in store for you in the coming months, as the prices of gas and groceries have gone sky high, there’s a worker shortage, and there are questions about our energy dependence on foreign countries.
Also on Full Measure, there have been calls around the nation to “defund the police” and replace law enforcement officers with social workers.
In Denver, Colorado, they haven’t exactly replaced the police, but they’ve augmented their force with mental health experts and social workers who respond to some emergency 9-1-1 calls in a “STAR” van.
We’ll talk with the police chief and see how it’s going.
And health expert Lawrence Gostin talks with me about his new book: “Global Health Security.”
