Take action to help those affected by Hurricane Helene

The image is a photo of a flooded street near Atlanta, Georgia due to Hurricane Helene. In the front of the photo dirty water has risen nearly above the hood of a white SUV. The white SUV has an open trunk. In the background a white van is driving down the wet and flooded street. To the right of the white van is a blue sedan car, turned horizontally, presumably stuck on the street. On both sides of the street are tall green trees.

On September 26, Hurricane Helene barreled its way through the Southeastern United States. The powerful Category 4 hurricane made landfall with winds up to 140 mph, leaving a path of enormous destruction. Millions of people remain without power and many areas remain under evacuation orders or are inaccessible.

Our thoughts are with the people and communities whose lives have been changed by this natural disaster and the first responders who are putting their lives on the line to reach those in need.

As we’ve seen over the past few years, climate change continues to exacerbate extreme weather events across the globe, and their devastating effects impact the lives of many, long after the storm has passed. We know the path to recovery will be long and rebuilding will require help from everyone, no matter where you are.

Here are some organizations providing relief and services to areas affected by Hurricane Helene. If you’re able, we hope you will consider pitching in.
