Most voters suspect U.S. officials covered up China’s role in the Covid-19 pandemic, and less than half think Dr. Anthony Fauci has told the truth about the research that may have caused the outbreak.
That’s according to the latest Rasmussen Reports.
The national survey finds that 39% of likely U.S. voters believe Fauci has told the truth about U.S. government funding for gain-of-function virus research, while 47% don’t think Fauci has told the truth.
Another 15% are not sure.
These findings haven’t changed much since December.
It was recently reported that three Chinese scientists conducting gain-of-function experiments on coronaviruses in 2019 at the Wuhan Institute of Virology were the first humans to contract Covid-19.
Ever since the Covid-19 pandemic began, survey responses have been divided along political lines.
A majority (58%) of Democrats still believe Fauci has told the truth about U.S. government funding for gain-of-function virus research, but only 22% of Republicans and 33% of unaffiliated voters share that belief.
Majorities of both Republicans (67%) and unaffiliated voters (50%) don’t think Fauci has told the truth, an opinion shared by just 25% of Democrats.
