The apparent increase in the incidence of males who say they feel like what they think females feel like, or vice versa, isn’t real.
That’s according to the opinion of the majority of respondents in the latest unscientific poll of 1,250 people at SharylAttkisson.com.
A combined 92% say transgenderism is increasing because of the power of suggestion (60%) or because it’s a fad (32%).
Another 6% say medicine is causing it, and the rest say they don’t know why it’s increasing.
Experts say people who identify as transgender make up about one-half of one percent (.5% or .005) of the US adult population. However, there is a stark rise among the young with about triple the number, or about 1.4%, saying they are transgender.
Because the increase is generational in nature, scientists theorize it is either due to environmental factors and exposures, or is more of a trend created by social media and cultural norms, or a combination of both.
