Trump’s Sons React to Indictment: ‘Communist-Level’ and ‘Prosecutorial Misconduct’

Former President Donald Trump’s sons Eric Trump and Don Trump Jr. reacted to their father’s indictment with harsh words of criticism, denouncing the move as a political hit job that reflects badly on the state of American politics.

Don Trump Jr., the former president’s eldest son, took to Twitter to express his outrage after a grand jury empaneled by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg voted to indict.

“This isn’t just the radical left weaponizing the government to target their political enemies, this is them weaponizing the government to interfere in the 2024 election to stop Trump,” Don Jr. said in a tweet. “The only solution is to shove it down their throats and put him back in the White House!!! #MAGA.”

Don Jr. also addressed the matter in a video statement on Rumble, in which he compared the indictment to communist tactics by tyrants like Mao and Stalin.

“Apparently, Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is actually indicting my father,” he said. “Let’s be clear, folks. This is like communist-level [expletive]. This is stuff that would make Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot … it would make them blush.”

“It’s so flagrant, it’s so crazed,” he added.

The three communist leaders Don Jr. mentioned are responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of people.

‘Third-World Prosecutorial Misconduct’

Eric Trump, the former president’s middle son, took to Twitter to call the indictment an example of “third-world prosecutorial misconduct.”

“It is the opportunistic targeting of a political opponent in a campaign year,” he said in a tweet.

Eric Trump was later interviewed by Sean Hannity, where he said the indictment is all about trying to wrong-foot the campaign of someone likely to beat whichever candidate the Democrats field in 2024.

“When my father is leading by 35 percent in the polls and they know he’s going to be the guy that Joe Biden will ultimately—or whoever the Democrat is going to be—will ultimately run against, guess who they after?” he said.

“They go after Donald Trump. They will do anything to take him out of the race, they will do anything they can to imprison the man, they will do anything they can to harass his family, to imprison us all,” Eric Trump added.

Eric Trump said that Bragg was elected on a platform of pledging to go after his father and the indictment caps a long-running effort to hurt Donald Trump politically.

“That was their calling card. This was their mission. This is what they promised their donors. This is what they promised Soros that they would do. It’s why they received the big checks,” Eric Trump said.

“And it’s exactly why the American people have lost total faith in the system,” he said, adding, “people are sick and tired of it.”

‘Anything to Crush Their Political Opponents’

Some, however, including a member of Trump’s own family, expressed satisfaction about the indictment.

The former president’s niece Mary Trump, who alleged she was defrauded of millions of dollars in a family settlement and sued the former president, took to Twitter to hail the grand jury’s decision.

“It’s official: Donald Trump is the: 1st man in the Oval Office to be impeached twice. 1st man in the Oval Office to incite an insurrection. 1st to lose the popular vote TWICE. and now … the first to be INDICTED,” she said in a tweet.

With the indictment, Trump became the first former U.S. president to face criminal charges.

“But the media is missing the biggest reason this is so important,” she continued. “For the victims of Donald, this is finally some measure of justice. It’s been a long time coming, but after everything Donald has put this country through, WE HAVE PREVAILED.”

A number of Democrats have praised the indictment, while some Republicans have voiced their opposition. Don Jr. suggested that some Republicans are secretly pleased.

“We all know that the RINOs [Republicans In Name Only] are secretly happy about the indictment,” he wrote in a tweet. “But the fascist left won’t stop with Trump. They’re power-hungry & will do anything to crush their political opponents.”

The former president’s eldest son then called for deeper reflection on the part of the Republican party as a whole.

“If we’re ever going to save our country, the entire GOP needs to finally figure that out.”

Trump ‘Ready to Fight’

The indictment against Trump was a major development in a probe launched by Bragg into an alleged hush-money payment from Trump to adult entertainment actress Stormy Daniels not to disclose an alleged affair.

Trump has denied having an affair with Daniels, insisting he’s a victim of extortion.

Legal experts have said that the prosecutor’s criminal case likely focuses on whether Trump documented that payment as false business records in the Trump Organization. The indictment against Trump remains under seal so the charges against him are not yet known.

A spokesperson for Bragg’s office said in a statement that it is now coordinating with Trump’s attorneys his “surrender to the Manhattan D.A.’s Office for arraignment on a Supreme Court indictment.”

Trump’s attorney Joseph Tacopina told The Epoch Times that the former president is set to be arraigned sometime next week.

“We’re working that out—maybe Tuesday,” Tacopina said.

“He’s angry, disappointed, but he’s ready to fight. He’s a pretty tough guy—his knees don’t buckle, so he’ll be ready to go.”
