(READ) Republicans: protect American sovereignty against the World Health Organization

Senate Republicans are warning the Biden Administration that they will oppose any attempt to adhere to an emerging World Health Organization (WHO) treaty on how to respond to future pandemics, unless that treaty first wins Senate approval.

Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee) and Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin) along with 12 other GOP Senators have introduced the No WHO Pandemic Preparedness Treaty Without Senate Approval Act.

The legislation comes as the WHO continues to move the pandemic treaty process forward and is expected to formally present a draft to member states later this month.

The resolution reflects Republican worries that President Biden will look to adopt treaty obligations without first asking the Senate, as they say is required, and that the treaty itself is being negotiated in a way that may benefit China at the expense of the US.

Americans remain skeptical of continuing infringements on personal liberties and freedoms after being subjected to the government’s misguided and sometimes harmful Covid-19 policies, including mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and prolonged closures of schools and businesses.

The Senators say the proposed legislation would provide more transparency in WHO agreements and a constitutional check on the administration.

The World Health Organization is a puppet for the Chinese Communist Party. Their mismanagement of the Covid-19 pandemic made it abundantly clear they should never have a say over America’s response to any crisis. It’s time for President Biden to put the rights of the American people ahead of the corrupt public health ‘experts’ who are only interested in lining their pockets and amplifying Xi Jinping’s propaganda.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee)

The WHO, along with our federal health agencies, failed miserably in their response to Covid-19. This failure should not be rewarded with a new international treaty that would increase the WHO’s power at the expense of American sovereignty. I’m proud to reintroduce this legislation to hold the WHO accountable for their failures and increase transparency for the American people. The sovereignty of the United States is not negotiable.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Iowa)
