Washington D.C. city leaders recently passed a controversial law called “the Local Resident Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2022” that would permit illegal immigrants to vote in local elections.
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) and Rep. James Comer (R-Kentucky) are leading an effort to block the law from taking effect.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is among a group of US senators who have signed onto the Senate resolution.
Nothing should be more offensive to the American people than allowing illegal immigrants to participate in our elections. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, it always does. I completely support Senator Cotton’s efforts to stop the D.C. Council from allowing illegal immigrants and other foreign nationals to vote.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC)
If the resolution passes the House and Senate, and is signed by President Biden, it would stop the DC law.
However, since the Senate is led by Democrats and Biden is a Democrat, and they may approve of the DC law, stopping it could be a long shot.
