(NEW) MARSOC 3 surveillance video released

Surveillance video has been released in the case of Gunnery Sergeant Daniel Draher, Gunnery Sergeant Joshua Negron, and Chief Hospital Corpsman Eric Gilmet of Marine Forces Special Operations Command (“MARSOC”). They are accused of manslaughter and negligent homicide in the death of a U.S. military contractor in Erbil, Kurdistan, after a confrontation in and outside a bar on New Year’s Eve on January 1, 2019.

Here is the video description from advocates for MARSOC 3:

The MARSOC 3 — Gunnery Sergeant Daniel Draher, Gunnery Sergeant Joshua Negron, and Chief Hospital Corpsman Eric Gilmet – are each highly-decorated members of the U.S. Marine Forces Special Operations Command (“MARSOC”), who have been wrongly accused of manslaughter and negligent homicide for the death of a U.S. military contractor in Erbil, Kurdistan, after a New Year’s Eve party on January 1, 2019. SEEN HERE FOR THE FIRST TIME IS THE EXONERATING VIDEO EVIDENCE THE PENTAGON IGNORED, WHICH SHOWS WHAT REALLY HAPPENED THAT NIGHT. In fact, the truth is the very opposite of the repeated false public claims of “military sources,” who hid behind anonymity to portray the MARSOC 3 in news reports as murderers and the contractor as an innocent victim. In fact, as seen on security footage from inside the party, the contractor had been drinking heavily and got into multiple altercations with patrons that led bouncers to intervene in one case long before the MARSOC 3 even arrived. Later, the contractor initiated a confrontation with Eric Gilmet who its seen trying to defuse the situation holding his hands up and patting him on the shoulder, having no idea who the contractor was or why he was being so aggressive; as the contractor got more aggressive, yelling at Gilmet and getting in his face, bouncers then kicked him out. Rather than going back to base, the contractor – who it was later learned had been overheard saying as he was forced to leave that he was going to attack Gilmet when he left – waited in the parking lot for the MARSOC 3. The contractor then initiated another confrontation. Although Daniel Draher sought to calm him down, the contractor attacked Draher, punching him twice in the face and shoulder. It was only at that point that Joshua Negron punched the contractor back once in self-defense. The footage shows that Gilmet immediately began to render the contractor first aid, while his friends left him behind. The video also explains the extraordinary and egregious due process abuses that began with the immediate public campaign to label the MARSOC 3 guilty and then later polluted the investigation, decision to charge them, and their courts-martial process. Now that their courts-martial have begun, the MARSOC 3 can finally make this video evidence public. The real question that need to be asked is why has the U.S. Department of Defense for years so brazenly misrepresented what really happened that night?
