‘Blood Is On Your Hands’: Christian Nonprofit Vandalized After Club Q Shooting

The headquarters of Focus on the Family, a Christian parachurch organization, was vandalized Thursday following a mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Colorado.

The phrases “Their blood is on your hands” and “five lives taken” appeared on a sign displaying the Focus on the Family logo in an apparent attempt to link the group for the shooting which claimed the lives of five people and resulted in 25 injuries. Law enforcement officials have no information about a suspect in the act of vandalism, according to a report from the Colorado Springs Gazette.

Focus on the Family exists to share the gospel “with as many people as possible by nurturing and affirming the God-ordained institution of the family and proclaiming biblical truths worldwide,” according to the organization’s website. Club Q is an “adult-oriented gay and lesbian nightclub hosting theme nights” such as drag shows. Both organizations are located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

In the days after the shooting, members of the legacy media linked the carnage with conservative backlash against drag shows for children, which have occurred in a number of gay bars across the country over the past several months. Court documents noted that the alleged shooter, who will not be named in accordance with Daily Wire policy about depriving mass murderers of the notoriety they often desire, identifies as “nonbinary” and uses “they/them” pronouns.

During one viral moment, a guest on CNN insisted that the suspect cannot truly be “nonbinary,” asserting that “they’re just saying that because they want to have the easy way out on this.” The guest, a biological male who claims identity as a transgender female, added that “it was obvious with the mugshot, that’s a man.”

Daily Wire host Matt Walsh noted the hypocrisy of radical gender theory proponents denying the professed identity of the shooter. “You set a precedent here and we will hold you to it. You have to respect his identity,” he contended. “I don’t. You do. These are your rules. Now take your medicine and shut up.”

The suspect reportedly changed his name six years ago to disassociate from his family. The suspect’s father was a mixed martial arts fighter and pornography performer with a long criminal history, including convictions for battery against the alleged shooter’s mother.

The vandalism of Focus on the Family, which opposes abortion, same-sex marriage, and the broader LGBTQ movement, occurs in the wake of several crisis pregnancy centers enduring a string of property crimes following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. While some of the nonprofits were spray-painted with slogans such as “bans off our bodies” and “if abortions aren’t safe, neither are you,” others were set ablaze.

The Department of Justice has received criticism for failing to prosecute the crimes even as they charge pro-life activists with federal crimes. The agency recently arrested Roman Catholic activist Mark Houck, who allegedly pushed an abortion clinic escort while protecting his 12-year-old son in an incident that was dismissed last year by a federal court in Philadelphia.
