Should schools require Covid-19 vaccine for kids?

Most parents are against making Covid-19 vaccination mandatory for school children, but most Democrats favor such a mandate.

That’s according to the latest Rasmussen Reports.

The survey found that 31% of American adults believe public schools should make Covid-19 vaccination mandatory for students, while 58% are against making the vaccine mandatory.

In August, 43% favored schools requiring Covid-19 vaccination for children.

Fifty percent (50%) of the survey respondents were parents or grandparents of school-age children, and 61% of them oppose schools making Covid-19 vaccination mandatory.

When it comes to party affiliation there is a sharp political divide over vaccine mandates.

Fifty-four percent (54%) of Democrats are in favor of public schools mandating Covid-19 for students, while 79% of Republicans oppose vaccine mandates.

Among those not affiliated with either major party, 63% are against schools making Covid-19 mandatory for students and 23% favor such a mandate.

The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted unanimously during its Oct. 19-20 meeting to add Covid-19 vaccination to next year’s child, adolescent and adult immunization schedules.

Although the vote did not establish a mandate per se, several states follow the CDC’s recommendations.
