After more than a year and a half, the federal government has finally reopened our northern and southern borders to “non-essential” travelers coming into the U.S. by car or on foot.
In a policy move that baffled Democrats and Republicans alike, and bankrupted many U.S. border businesses, illegal immigrants had been welcomed by the hundreds of thousands, while legal tourists were banned if they wanted to come across the land border by car or on foot.
Oddly enough, at the same time, it was still okay for travelers to fly in– just not enter by foot or car.
Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) is among those who had questioned the policy.
