On Friday, President Joe Biden twice claimed that “350 million” people in the U.S. have been vaccinated, even though the Census Bureau estimates that as of August 6 the total U.S. population was approximately 332,600,000.

In comments addressing the latest economic report, Biden veered off topic to call for more people to get the coronavirus vaccine, saying that there being “roughly 350 million people vaccinated in the United States” is proof that the vaccines are safe:

“It is taking a needless toll on our country. You know, we have roughly 350 million people vaccinated in the United States, and billions around the world, and virtually no one has died because of that vaccination. But, even so, the impact is going to be very different than what happened last January.”

Later, Biden claimed that “350 Americans” have been vaccinated, with no ill effects:

“I said, again and again, this is a pandemic of the unvaccinated. So, we have to get more people vaccinated. I said, well over – what is the number again? I have to remind myself – 350 million Americans have already been vaccinated. They are doing fine.”

But, according the Census Bureau’s “U.S. World and Population Clock,” the total U.S. population on Friday was just over 332,600,000.
