(POLL) Covid-19 no longer top problem; Americans cite worries about govt., race relations, economy

Coronavirus

Only 8% of Americans say Covid-19 is the country’s top problem. That’s compared to the all-time high of 45% of American’s who said it was the top problem in the U.S. a little over a year ago. That’s according to a recent Gallup poll.

Gallup says the new poll is the first time Covid-19 concerns were not one of the top two concerns cited since the pandemic originally became a top concern. Worries about the government, race relations, immigration and the economy all outweighed concerns over Covid-19, says Gallup.

Less than a third of those polled say they are satisfied with the direction of the country. Sixty-three percent (63%) say they are dissatisfied with the direction the country is headed, says Gallup.

Satisfaction with the country’s direction is deeply divided along political party lines, with 61% of Democrats reporting they are satisfied while only 8% of Republicans are. Independents report 32% satisfaction with the direction of the country.
