The Biden Administration has not responded to a letter from Tennessee members of Congress regarding reports that it’s been secretly resettling illegal unaccompanied minors in Tennessee without notifying or coordinating with local and state authorities.
Republican Sens. Marsha Blackburn, Bill Hagerty, and Republican Rep. Chuck Fleischmann sent their original inquiry to Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra May 20.
Now, in a follow up letter, the same members are asking for a briefing from Becerra regarding the government’s management of the masses of so-called Unaccompanied Alien Children that are crossing during the current Southern border crisis.
According to the letter, there are reports that a 16-year-old boy went missing on June 14 from a Chattanooga, Tenn. facility housing Unaccompanied Alien Children who are in the custody of Health and Human Services.
The facility is reported under state and federal investigation after abuse allegations by a child in custody.
This allegation of abuse and the missing child individually raise urgent questions that demand immediate answers regarding the steps HHS is taking to ensure the safety and well-being of UACs in this Chattanooga facility.
