Americans’ views of large technology companies (Amazon, Google, Facebook, among others) are significantly more negative now than they were 18 months ago, according to a recent Gallup poll.
Forty-five percent (45%) of U.S. adults say they have very or somewhat negative views of these technology firms. That’s up from 33% in August of 2019, according to Gallup.
Fifty-seven percent (57%) of those polled say they want more government regulation of technology firms.
The calls for more government regulation cross party lines, with Republicans (53%), Democrats (60%), and Independents (58%) all increasing since August 2019:
The biggest change in views about large technology firms is among Republicans and Independents. Democrats’ views on Big Tech firms remain relatively the same, says Gallup.
