Former President Trump is facing criminal prosecution in multiple cases, yet a majority of voters don’t believe his legal problems will stop his campaign to win the presidency again in 2024.
That’s according to the latest Rasmussen Reports.
The survey found that 35% of likely U.S. voters believe the prosecution of Trump will hurt his chances of winning next year’s presidential election, while 23% think it will actually help his chances.
Thirty-two percent (32%) don’t think the prosecution of Trump will make much difference for his chances in 2024, and another 10% are not sure.
A federal judge has set a May 2024 trial date for the federal case involving Trump’s handling of classified documents. Special Counsel Jack Smith is reportedly preparing a federal indictment of Trump in relation to the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
And the district attorney in Fulton County, Georgia, is also reportedly pursuing criminal charges against Trump.
While 48% of Democrats believe the prosecution of Trump will hurt his chances of winning next year’s election, that belief is shared by only 24% of Republicans and 31% of voters not affiliated with either major party.
