Ninety-five percent (95%) of respondents say they support paper ballots, one-day voting, and voter ID requirements for Election Day. Add in the 4% who support at least part of the measures, and a full 99% of people favor making voting more restricted.
That’s according to the latest unscientific poll of 2,206 people at SharylAttkisson.com.
Voter identification laws require voters to present some form of identification in order to vote at the polls.
Currently 36 states have laws requesting or requiring voters to show some form of identification at the polls.
Nebraska is the newest state to enact a voter ID law after a citizen initiative requiring photo ID passed in the Midterm elections last November.
The remaining 14 states and D.C. use controversial and less reliable methods to verify the identity of voters, including verifying signatures against file information.
