Another hospital limits care due to staff shortages caused by Covid-19 vaccine mandate


Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston is temporarily halting child and trauma admissions, and will close its neonatal intensive care unit later this month due to staff shortages sparked by Covid-19 vaccine mandates.

That’s according to Becker’s Hospital Review which described “acute nursing staffing shortages in key areas.”

Earlier this week, the hospital suspended heart attack admissions, but has now reinstated them.

As a result of closing its neonatal intensive care unit, the hospital will change from a Level 2 nursery for babies born under 35 weeks, to a Level 1 nursery for babies born after 35 weeks.
