(READ) Federal court blocks Biden policy discriminating against white farmers in Covid-19 relief

A Florida District Court recently issued a nationwide injunction blocking Biden Administration officials from distributing Covid-19 relief funds to farmers on racially discriminatory grounds.

The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 directs the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to give preferential treatment to businesses owned by women, veterans, and people who are “socially and economically disadvantaged.”

The federal law uses a controversial “critical race theory” definition of “socially and economically disadvantaged” that can only include minority groups.

A white Florida farmer filed a lawsuit alleging that he was ineligible for Covid-19 relief funds solely because of his race.

A conservative non-profit legal group filed federal lawsuits on behalf of dozens of white farmers across at least nine states.

At least one other federal court had already ordered a halt to the administration of the relief program to farmers, but the recent Florida decision specifically ordered a nationwide stop of the program until a non-discriminatory plan for distribution of funds is in place.
