(READ) President Biden’s statement on finding out more about Covid-19 origins

Amid a growing turnabout in the media, President Biden has asked for a stronger inquiry into Covid-19’s origins.

Many in the media falsely reported for over a year that the idea of Covid-19 originating from a lab in China had been “debunked.” In fact, not only was the idea not debunked, it proved to be the prevalent, accepted belief among a significant segment of scientists.

A statement today by Biden says U.S. intelligence is currently split on whether the virus emerged naturally or was part of an experiment conducted by the Chinese, but he has asked for a more definitive report in 90 days.

Part of the barrier to arriving at definitive answers is that China and its Wuhan lab, which has received funding from the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Anthony Fauci’s Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and other U.S. entities, failed to provide the samples, inspections and cooperation needed.

Some critics say it’s too late to expect any credible information from China.

As I reported in my investigation last month, genetic analysis conducted by U.S. officials early in the pandemic concluded Covid-19 showed hallmarks of man’s manipulation. The report also showed that the U.S. had partnered with Chinese scientists at the Wuhan lab, using taxpayer funds from Fauci’s institute and NIH, to conduct controversial Gain of Function research on bat coronavirus. Gain of Function research takes a virus that is currently harmless to people and manipulates it genetically to make it infectious in people for the purpose of developing a vaccine and other therapies in advance.

According to tax records, Johnson and Johnson, makers of one Covid-19 vaccine, provided signifiant funding to EcoHealth Alliance, a nonprofit middleman that– among other things– funded and partnered in bat coronavirus research with China and the Wuhan lab (see #5 below). The pharmaceutical company did not respond to requests to explain the purpose of its funding.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 26, 2021
Statement by President Joe Biden on the Investigation into the Origins of COVID-19
Back in early 2020, when COVID-19 emerged, I called for the CDC to get access to China to learn about the virus so we could fight it more effectively. The failure to get our inspectors on the ground in those early months will always hamper any investigation into the origin of COVID-19.

Nevertheless, shortly after I became President, in March, I had my National Security Advisor task the Intelligence Community to prepare a report on their most up-to-date analysis of the origins of COVID-19, including whether it emerged from human contact with an infected animal or from a laboratory accident. I received that report earlier this month, and asked for additional follow-up. As of today, the U.S. Intelligence Community has “coalesced around two likely scenarios” but has not reached a definitive conclusion on this question. Here is their current position: “while two elements in the IC leans toward the former scenario and one leans more toward the latter – each with low or moderate confidence – the majority of elements do not believe there is sufficient information to assess one to be more likely than the other.”

I have now asked the Intelligence Community to redouble their efforts to collect and analyze information that could bring us closer to a definitive conclusion, and to report back to me in 90 days. As part of that report, I have asked for areas of further inquiry that may be required, including specific questions for China. I have also asked that this effort include work by our National Labs and other agencies of our government to augment the Intelligence Community’s efforts. And I have asked the Intelligence Community to keep Congress fully apprised of its work.

The United States will also keep working with like-minded partners around the world to press China to participate in a full, transparent, evidence-based international investigation and to provide access to all relevant data and evidence.
