Most voters view Florida Governor Ron DeSantis favorably. But if he decides to enter the 2024 presidential race, he might face an uphill battle for the Republican nomination against former President Donald Trump.
That’s according to Rasmussen Reports.
The survey finds that, among Republican voters, 45% say they would support Trump and 32% say they would support DeSantis, with 14% say they would support some other candidate.
Among all voters, the survey finds if the choice were between DeSantis and Trump, 30% of likely voters would support DeSantis, 26% would support Trump and 36% would support some other candidate. But adding Trump and DeSantis pitted against a single unnamed Democrat, that would mean 56% say they support one of the top two Republicans.
Thirty-five percent (35%) of voters say they believe DeSantis should run for president in 2024, while 42% say they think he should not run and 22% say they are not sure.
Among Republican voters, 48% say DeSantis should run in 2024, 31% say he shouldn’t and 20% say they are not sure.
