California Governor Gavin Newsom has a plan to pay reparations to the descendants of slaves, and a majority of Democrats support his idea.
That’s according to the latest Rasmussen Reports.
The survey found that 38% of likely U.S. voters support taxpayer-funded reparation payments to the descendants of American slaves, including 19% who “strongly support” reparations.
Fifty-four percent (54%) are opposed, including 42% who “strongly oppose” reparations payments.
In Rasmussen’s January 2021 survey, 28% supported reparations.
While 60% of Democrats support reparations, that opinion is shared by only 18% of Republicans and 35% of voters not affiliated with either major party.
