FBI director says he can’t disclose Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick’s cause of death

FBI Director Christopher Wray said he cannot disclose the cause of death of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, who died after the Capitol riots, because of the ongoing investigation.

At a Senate Judiciary hearing this week, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) asked Wray pointed questions about Officer Sicknick’s cause of death as Wray testified about the events of January 6th.

Wray repeatedly refused to answer Senator Grassley’s questions about Sicknick’s cause of death, which some in the media immediately labeled as a murder at the hands of pro-Trump rioters.

Reports after January 6th originally said Officer Sicknick died after being bludgeoned by a fire extinguisher while fighting off then-President Trump supporters.

Sicknick’s family says that is untrue:

He wasn’t hit on the head, no. We think he had a stroke, but we don’t know anything for sure. We’d love to know what happened,

Sicknick’s mother, Gladys Sicknick, according to NY Post report dated 3/2/21

It is still unclear whether the FBI knows the cause of Officer Sicknick’s death, or whether agency officials know, but will not disclose it.
